Building an Autonomous Business Portfolio
One legal company. Several public faces. Shared infrastructure that is not shared authority. This is a case study of what we actually built, not a growth narrative.
What is proven, and what is not
Proven as engineering: multiple public hostnames; tenant isolation in Company OS; a public GitHub release candidate; support that can open a case; an owner admin on a named tunnel to loopback; sites that no longer leak operator cash onto customer pages.
Not proven as commerce: product-market fit for civic briefs, recall sheets, nutrition drafts, or seating packs. Collected product cash for those offers. We do not invent it.
Money Hunter’s storefront is live for small public-data jobs. That is a public catalog, not a claim that the autonomous hunter loop has become a cash engine. Checkout for Pullsheet, Hearthlabel, and Seatpack is explicitly not live until the owner enables it.
Sequence
- Money Hunter — experimental orchestration plus a public storefront. Company #1. Not migrated onto Company OS this year.
- Packet Press — second mission, civic briefs from already-public packets. The isolation proof.
- Company OS — the reusable engine extracted so the second company would not be a fork of the first.
- Pullsheet, Hearthlabel, Seatpack — productized one-shot reports with their own hostnames, samples, and parked checkout.
- Umbrella — TheCriners LLC as the parent face: signed bus, support, admin, and this site.
Why they are not separate LLCs
Customers should see distinct products. Lawyers should see one company. Hostnames give us the first without pretending the second. Every public footer is required to say so.
Operating model now
Directors are supposed to ask: would a potential customer understand what we sell, trust the site, and know what to do next? If not, web workers may fix copy, layout, FAQs, samples, links, and leaks under a narrow web_publish grant. They still may not change legal identity, payment destinations, or prices that are not already in the approved spec. Chris is notified after the fact, not asked to pixel-push beforehand.
Lessons
- A scoreboard that can invent cash will invent cash.
- One host, two businesses, one environment file is how you mail the wrong client.
- Public pages will leak operator state unless you scan for it.
- The parent site can look like internal documentation if you let engineers write it while tired. This redesign exists because that happened.
- Do not start the company factory while the existing companies still look unfinished on the public internet.
HTML is canonical. A PDF companion is offered where generated. Experimental laboratory results are labeled as such. This is not a product-market-fit claim and not a certification.
